Fowlescombe
Farm, Devon
How do you like your eggs
in the morning? At the new
Fowlescombe Farm, they
come still-warm from the
hens – and sometimes with
a feather still attached.
Set on the quiet fringes
of Dartmoor in South
Devon, this regenerative
farm is putting a fresh spin
on rural retreats. Guests are
invited to opt into daily
rituals – baking, gardening,
feeding the animals – all of
which encourage a slower,
more seasonal way of living.
Inside, a strong sense
of place is felt throughout,
from the local artworks
to the mattresses stuffed
with the farm's own wool,
across ten design-led suites.
At the heart of it all is the
Refectory Kitchen, led by
Elly Wentworth (a former
finalist on MasterChef: The
Professionals). At the
Refectory's spring launch,
her four-course dinners
were for guests only, but a
few extra places are now
being set for external
bookings (£75pp). Given the
buzz about the beef
bresaola and Devon hogget,
we suggest you book fast.
Doubles from £410 per
night (all-inclusive).
