New stars rising
The Nordic countries were celebrated
by Michelin at a ceremony in Anneberg
Denmark (16 June), with PAZ in Tórshavn
(Faroe Islands) debuting in the Guide with
two stars (read more on page 90). Germany,
meanwhile, saw a record total of 341 starred
restaurants announced at the Frankfurt
ceremony (18 June), making it the world’s
fifth-most star-rich country (after France,

Winning British bakes
Shout-out for the British winners at this
year’s James Beard Foundation Media
Awards – widely regarded as the Oscars of
the food world. London-based baker Nicola
Lamb won the ‘Baking and Desserts’
category for her debut cookbook Sift, while
in ‘Bread’, co-authors Richard Hart and
Henrietta Lovell won for Intuitive Sourdough
Baking. A proud moment for UK talent on
